An iron mill was built in here at the
beginning of the VIII century. Emelyan Pugachev visited this place
rather regularly before the revolt and the name Kukhtur originated
from the name of one of Pugachev's fellow-fighters, Salavat Yulaev.
The mill cast canons for the rebels. Then it was neglected because
of the shortage of water. The given area is also very interesting
for ornithologists as here nest about 74 species of various birds. |
