The National Museum of Bashkortostan Republic


The given museum was created in 1864 and was called the Ufa Province Museum. Through the years of its existence it has preserved the character of the museum of regional studies. The following departments constitute the main museum: ethnographical and restoration as well as those of local history, natural sciences, advertising and propaganda, scientific informatics, a library and an archive. Among the exhibits a lot of unique relics of the past and rarities can be found. A saber, which belonged to Salavat Yulaev, a fellow-fighter of Emelyan Pugachev, can be taken as an example. The museum possesses collection of leather articles dated XVIII and XIX centuries, which is the largest collection of such kind in Bashkortostan. There are a lot of exhibits representing the Bronze Epoch: units found in the process of excavations of the Ufa Kremlin, articles belonging to nomads-members of the Scythian and Sarmat Circle.
